Cook Time- 25mins
- 1 1/2 cups water
- Dash of salt
- 1/2 cup steel cut oats
- 1 Apple cut into cubes
- 1 tbsp raisins (optional)
- 1/2 cups reduced fat milk
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tbsp chopped walnuts
- Maple syrup
Place the water in a small pot add salt- bring to a boil.
Add the oats after a minute- lower to heat to low.
Allow to cook for 10mins – monitoring it – stir occasionally.
Add cinnamon, raisins and apples. Bring heat back up to medium high- stir for a minute- then lower the heat to low- cook for 10 mins
Add the milk- increase the heat to med-high- stirring for a minute then finish cooking on low for 4 mins more-
Serve in bowls topped with the chopped walnuts and maple syrup.
